Ngl I’m hella hyped for this and WDIM is the PERFECT single for the type of Drake album I wanna hear personally but man… if he fumbles this album how he did CLB and FATD I’m giving up on the dream of a great Drake album at this stage of his career

CLB was great and FATD was good. So if he keeps going in that direction I don't mind.

I think in general it's better to leave out personal expectations on how you want the album to sound like. This will always end up in dissappointment.

IMO they both were pretty mid, great moments but not anywhere near being high points in his discography

If I were to rank his discography personally I’d have the classics first (TC, NWTS, IYRTITL, SFG)

Then I’d probably take Care Package at 5, essential Drake classics on that project.

Then I’m going More Life at 6, just a few tracks short of being another classic, then I’m rocking with his 2022 albums (Her Loss, HNM) then Views, then Im going WATTBA which is low on substance and chemistry but has virtually no skips, then Scorp, then DLDT, and THEN FATD and CLB lol. With TML last.

Like I said this my opinion but I don’t think it’s a crazy take to rank CLB and FATD mid to low tier

If I can confidently place Iceman in or just outside the top 5 I’ll be happy. If it’s towards the middle or bottom I’m really gonna feel like Drake is washed as an album artist

For me there is not much between most of Drake's projects and my ranking is very dynamic depending on my mood, time of year and other factors. Right now it is probably this:

Pretty on point here. I’d argue FATD isn’t a fumble, just not near classic material like we’ve all been hoping for. The opportunity is now, I agree.

i really don't think it will be that different to fatd. he has been well aware of what people say about how he makes albums

making an album for the people who think he has something to prove is an easy way to flop. he's never making a nwts style album again, music is in a different place. it will be more like views if anything, which people hated on release

Better just expect it to be similiar to Views/CLB/FATD and you won't get disappointed. 🤷‍♂️

I kinda agree with this more. Anybody thinking he’s gonna make a NWTS or IYRT type record again is setting themselves up for disappointment. People gotta let go of the “I want a concise Drake record that’s a classic” lol. We aren’t getting a 13-15 song Drake album anymore.

Iceman will probably be 17+ songs which is on par with most of his albums and it will probably be a variety of different types of sounds like most of his albums. I think we will just hear a lot about how the beef has impacted him and maybe a glimpse into what he feels his future holds as artist. I do agree that this is the one of the most intriguing times in his career as a fan and I can’t wait to see how he puts it together on this next project.

Maybe a reference to Raikkonen win in Brazil 2007. He was the last in the top 3 before that race but ended in first and won the championship.
