I think sometimes people harp on metrics too much but outside of that there really isn’t a metric to measure music by, it’s really all just opinion, so I think it’s something people fall back on because outside of “what are people listening to the most” it’s all pretty subjective about quality

Stats and hits in music are why MJs considered the king of pop.
