It's what happens when you're extremely bought into a narrative and get dispositive evidence - while we expect people to change their beliefs, for something you have really attached your personality towards (Drake is a coloniser, he has a daughter, he has kids in his basement) the dispositive evidence actually makes you go back twice as hard.

You've invested so much time into the belief that your brain literally can't handle what's right in front of you - so it actually entrenches the incorrect belief to protect your ego.
