    Surprise drop

Save that for the solo drop

  • Oct 10, 2024

I still think honestly nevermind would’ve gotten way better reception if he told us it was a dance album and dropped like massive or something as a single beforehand

I think people are losing it.

He talked about him walking away covered in there blood cause he walked away after the fight started.
    Not as a I would've won statement.

He talks about losing a bro and gaining a foe that could've been Drake or Kendrick.

He talks about one side doing it for bots and views clout.
    Kendrick

Despite Kendrick's success his career on paper isn't going so great there is no real influence or impact. Cole's thoughts also fall in line with Akon's statement about this was a way for Kendrick to get his props.

He talks about another side doing it for strangers who don't know his goals.
    Drake

Which Drake himself more or less said when he told AK he did this for the fans. Drake's problem with Kendrick is that Kendrick has a problem with Drake. Not that Drake has an actual issue with Kendrick. (Pre pedo song) So Drake did it for strangers

    Lastly

"Did Cole foul don't know why you still pretending"

"They say I'm picking sides ay dont lie on me my n**
Then start another war ay Drake you'll always be my n**

I ain't ashamed to say you did a lot for me, f*** all the narratives"

i wouldn't set that as the expectation for the next album tbh

yes, there should be a few songs where he goes into that mode - but his big albums always serve his whole audience and not just the rap aficionados (which is a relatively small group anyway)

don't see any signals that this is gonna change for the next one despite what has happened

i'd love a rap-heavy drake album with proper rollout but seems like we are past that era

Fosho he even spoke about this on the rap radar interview back in 2019 - what I’m saying is I do believe he’ll put together a rap heavy project sometime soon under two years for us as well šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø he himself said it that the party collab album is for the ladies u feel me?

And hot 97 rumor about Drake got a full project of conductor Williams beat tracks. so ima give that some creditablity too but we jus gotta wait and hang tight

One thing I wanna talk about is the fan perspective on how these guys approached the beef

People always side with Kendrick, and this goes way back to Control, because he always throws shots and that’s always exciting because people naturally like drama; and they disguise it as ā€œthat’s what hip hop isā€ or ā€œhip hop is a competitive sportā€, and to a certain extent I get that

But the same people ridicule Drake for that post-Control interview where he told them that Kendrick was all buddy buddy with him when he saw him after Control dropped, and if he’s gonna beef with somebody it needs to be real (a sentiment shared by Cole, particularly on Middle Child), but people just say that’s Drake being weak or ā€œnot hip hopā€ which never made any sense to me

Even now nobody really knows why Kendrick hates Drake or what made him wanna diss Drake in like that, you could argue it was the same mindset he had back during control of starting s*** just to start s***, you can back that up with the ā€œtough loveā€ lyrics on the last track, indicating it was all for sport and not really serious despite the allegations and shots thrown

But for me, I find drakes perspective of ā€œlet the beef be realā€ more respectable than Kendrick’s ā€œimma just throw shotsā€

Is it really hip hop to start beef for the sake of beef?

If any rapper other than kdot did this, people would call it clout chasing

But Kendrick’s holier than thou gimmick makes people think it’s some kind of holy war or some necessary evil

    People are goofy man lol

It’s clout chasing cuz Mr morale didn’t do so well
