It feels like an easy way to just put things into a broader and more digestible perspective rather than diving into rap as a form of art. Macklemore isn’t a top-tier rapper by any stretch of the imagination, but he still sold hella albums.

They're more tangible than comparing whats quality and whats trash imo. You can HEAR when an artist is influenced by someone else. In some cases you SEE/FEEL the impact an artist has on hip hop and the world around them
