Only 5% have masters. I understand not wanting to spend 8 years in higher education just to put your life on the line daily but it’s just way too easy to become a cop in America. Such an easy back up plan that any bozo can fall back on with little time investment and effort.

100k after tax in NYC is 71k. If you want to live in Manhattan then your rent is gonna be close to 30k a year on the low end
100k doesn’t get you much in the top cities in America
Or if you get a spot with roommates like most people in the city do.

It should be 4 years of higher education minimum plus at least 6 months to a year of heavily reformed police academy/orientation.
One of the biggest problems outside of training is that the majority of police are just uneducated losers who barely got through high school
Wouldn’t do that much considering its the consequences that work in their favor.
Officers in high profile cases like these rarely get justifiable punishment. It comes out of taxpayer funds, and amounts to nothing more than a reshuffling of position until things die down.
There needs to be real financial and criminal punishment for these goons. Too bad they have a stranglehold on every political office so that will never happen
