I honestly have no idea what type of budget they get from Pokemon Company but nowadays even some indie games have a higher budget than these games which is crazy

they invest 10 million yen or whatever and walk away with 1.6 billion in profit lol

unless leadership ever changes to someone that cares to try nothing changing

Gamefreak owns TPC with Nintendo and Creatures inc, they set their own budgets, release windows and what projects to make

Game Freak has enough staff, the problem isn't hiring more people. They just really don't want to do Pokemon anymore. That's why they're pushing most of their resources into non-pokemon related projects like that one game coming out next year, Beast of Reincarnation.

I do think gamefreak at their core is a small team for the games they want to make, regardless of the outside help they get. They have less than 300 devs working on multiple projects simultaneously, open worlds at that. I also think their devs just arent as knowledgeable as they should about 3D HD development.
A higher budget to me would entail hiring more capable developers, training adequately their staff, adding voice acting and dedicating even just 1 more year on their biggest projects. 4 years isnt bad for gen 10, but i think 5 would be better, and there's always legends to hold people over.

Also i do think they do want to make Pokémon, but i will say they probably felt too constrained by mainline, and how mass appealing it needs to be as their biggest cashcow. Thats probably why legends exists and why its generally higher quality than mainline, they can experiment with the series more

Ofc but I am not sure if the decision what type of budget they get and how much time they have is made by the people actually working on the games or some higher ups at GF together with Nintendo and other people who just want to push the next product out as fast as possible

Budget and time is never decided by the devs unless you're an indie, its usually the leads and project managers, in this case gamefreak's, and in games budget depends mostly on the amount of people working on the project, the amount of time they're working and the various hardware/software for development (ignoring marketing). They may simply prefer to have lower budgets to maximize profits, although gamefreak's leads arent paid accordingly so idk where that money goes lol. Tpc and nintendo probably have no say on the games, they don't own gamefreak. Im sure at best they might have gently suggested to get better as to avoid having to publicly apologize for the technical travesty that scavio was.
In any way you put it, its solely gamefreak's fault.

But they're slowly changing, they must have their pride after all. Scavio got a nice switch 2 update, same with ZA, and gen 10 is being made on an engine based off unreal engine 4, with a promising demo

Ehhh I don't think he was banned Centro added that part. I posted the translation up top

That's why I try to stay away from centro's tweets.

Yeah they don't care. They got rid of Masuda because he wanted perfection. That company is in shambles. No wonder Satoshi Tajiri wants nothing to do with the franchise he created.

Nah, I don't think anyone owns TPCi. They have a 3 way partnership over the ownership of Pokemon. Game Freak and TPCi having the highest share.

Ehhh, I wouldn't take Google's word for how many employees they have. There was over 1000 people working on Sword and Shield and double that for Scarlet and Violet. That didn't stop the games from being mediocre.

    polygon.com/interviews/2019/10/24/20929597/game-freak-explains-the-1000-staff-missing-creatures-and-leek-size-of-pokemon-sword-and-shield

Budget really isn't the issue for why the games are stagnant and not produced well.

    • Complacency
    • inexperience
    • lack of direction
    • perfection is no longer what they strive for
    • ROI from TPCi is what the company is focused on the games are second fiddle to merchandise.
    • lack of interest

Idk if you missed the first part of this teraleak from last year, but we kind of got A LOT of information on the inside of the company from leaked emails. Such as they're main goal is to make a game that surpasses Pokemon but not replace it. We got confirmation from what we learned years ago that it's an actual A team and B team. A team is the team dedicated to creating a new series and the B team is dedicated to doing Pokemon. A team is the more experienced team and B team is basically the interns. They think Pokemon is a easy enough game for new developers to learn how to code. Beast of Reincarnation looks miles better than Scarlet and Violet and they were produced around the same time.

Emails also showed us that the games and anime are linked. So the anime and games are created side by side and Game Freak and TPCi coordinate on what can and cannot be created. The anime also cannot have anything done with out Sugimori's(Sugimori is no longer with Game Freak directly but still has power as a funding member) permission. Same with new anime designs and vise versa. Ash is prohibited from being featured in games and people speculate that's why Ash-Greninja has been erased from existence.

We found out that Dexit really hurt their feelings and the tree controversy scared them to hell. They also took feedback about SwSh to heart. How Morimoto was demoted after directing HG/SS. Why we don't get post game content anymore.

We already know the ends and out of the company bro. It's not the budget. Game Freak just doesn't have that spark anymore. Then last night we found out that Masuda stepped down because of squabbles with HR and that his perfection approach was too "mean" and employees were reporting him. Game Freak could have a budget of $100 Million and still would put out mediocre.

    https://twitter.com/JoeMerrick/status/1896912446193086494

Joe Merrick has been upset about everything that's been going on because it hurts his website. He likes to go on his forum and throw pissy fits when leaks happen because he no longer can break the news on his website.

We literally saw emails that contradict what he's saying. TPCi literally have emails telling Game Freak to not do this and to not do that. It seems like a Symbiotic relationship. Nobody owns anyone but everyone has a piece of the franchise. Seems like TPCi has people from each company running it and that's why it always seem like they have the higher hierarchy.

Game Freak is the majority owner. It's why Nintendo doesn't really meddle with Pokemon. So when people be like "Why don't Nintendo just take the series and give it to someone else" because they can't.

Ahh like Wikipedia says they have 204 employees even though they have way more than that?

The leaked emails gave us an insight into the company I heavily suggest you look into Teraleak part 1 and not Wikipedia.

TPCi is its own thing. It's just Game Freak, Nintendo, and Creature all have a share in the company. They work symbiotic here's TPCi and Game Freak both proposing names for Paldea.
