Tbh those budgets are no where near as big as other AAA studios. I mean it's indie studios with bigger budgets than Z-A.

Game Freak has enough staff, the problem isn't hiring more people. They just really don't want to do Pokemon anymore. That's why they're pushing most of their resources into non-pokemon related projects like that one game coming out next year, Beast of Reincarnation.

I think people are misunderstanding the budget thing. It never costed much to make Pokemon games. The problem is they let the interns make it.

I am sure GF could make better looking games as proven with the one title they got coming for PS5. Its more of a time thing as I see it. Pokemon has a tight schedule in line with the Anime, merchandise and other stuff. They could make better games but then we would have to wait like 5+ years between each generation. Its a trade off I am not sure the fans are willing to do

Masuda sold the series out. Ohmori never should have got the director position. Man's only got it because Masuda took him out drinking and promised him the role. Ohmori 3DS games and switch games have always been controversial and then he went fully into DLC something Masuda swore would never come to Pokemon.

People s***ted Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee and those games look miles better than SwSh and Scarlet and Violent. Pokemon died in 2019 when Masuda finally gave up the games fully to Ohmori. It took people s***ting on Sword and Shield for them to update the pokemon models. There's email correspondence from the teraleak of them terrified of making another tree controversy lmao

The games only make like 2% of the profit for Pokemon. Merchandise, toys, mobile, animated series make up the 98%. This is why they don't care about the games. But it's also because Ohmori is an incompetent hack that even the Japanese community makes fun of.

There use to be a user name Stephen who posted the Japanese users on a forum memeing Ohmori back when everyone was upset about USUM being a cut down version of Sun and Moon.

I don't think the rest of the brand really cares about lining up with new generations. The most recent TCG set was gen 5 themed and the two before that were completely unrelated to SVI. People still bought them.

I guessed that merchandise probably makes way more money than the games. I checked the directors for the games once again and Matsuda stopped at XY with the mainline games. Seems in line for when the Pokemon games started dipping in quality.

I like Alola as a region but the games introduced a lot of the problems that are still relevant for modern Pokemon games today.

Also if Masuda and Tajiri had their way, Pokemon games would have ended after Gen 4. It's why Platinum and HG/SS was so feature rich. There was never suppose to be games after them. That's why it's no hint to a future region in HG/SS or Platinum.

It's also why in a interview Morimoto said he poured his heart and soul(actual backstory for why they're called this) in HG/SS and tried to put as many features as possible in the games. Gen 4 was really suppose to be the last in the series.
