The new schedule is to have dlc the year after instead of a 3rd game, we got 2 violet dlcs, second one dropped in December so new games incoming

so if they only been working on Gen X for a year and a half with no new core games on the way

will we get quality by Holiday 2025 or is that too soon?

It'll definitely be by holiday 2025.
They won't wait that long to start gen 10.

Pokémon is like Call Of Duty: no matter how s***ty the games are, they will always sell crazy amounts of copies because the brand is so popular

It’s impossible to fail and show them “hey, make a better game”. They don’t have to.

They can make a s***ty game and sell 20+ million copies

They’re too big to fail

I do think Gamefreak actually care about the quality of their games. They’re not some evil MFs that think they’re getting away with releasing a bad game and still selling (COD). It feels like they’re trapped in a deadline that they can’t get out of because of shareholders

I just hope the next mainline game is better and hope for the best

being new to 3D game dev
and having short dev cycles

the prevailing theory rn is Gen X will drop in 2026 to coincide with the 30th anniversary.

So BW remakes this years, and 2025 they have options to either to do:

An off year with only spin offs
Johto remakes
R/S/E on NSO w online

All Gamefreak has ever had to deal with at most is a 480p screen (3DS)

And then suddenly having to transition to open world 3D 720pm?

I’m not making excuses for Gamefreak cus I will call them on their s*** but I understand why they’re struggling

Legends Arceus restored the feeling bro play it if you haven’t

ORAS and USUM were good adventures post games aside

To be fair game freak has never really been good devs. They're great at ideas but programming and actually developing a game has been their worst aspect. The closest they came to making nearly perfect games was during the DS era and that's probably because that was the first time they actually was given time to work on games.

People often time forget that Diamond and Pearl was meant to be launch titles for the DS in 2004 but was delayed to 2005 in Japan. They used that time with it being released in Japan to bug fix and make the games better for international releases. Every game after D&P was damn near perfect releases with some bugs here and there but you can look at certain pages and see they're not as long as Gen 1-3 or Gen 6-9.
