Gen 4 was based on legends (Posiden, World Tree, and Son Wu Kong)

Gen 5 was based on cultures (each starter literally represent a different eastern culture Japan, China, and Europe)

Gen 6 was RPGs

Gen 7 was circus acts

Gen 8 physical activities
