Yeah gen 9 needs to be like this, but with a fully open world, cities, villages, ...
Keep the catching and battling system like this, keep the QoL improvements like easier Pokemon management, etc.
    And add gyms and E4.
The foundation for the GOAT Pokemon game is there, they just need to improve this, if needed - hire more devs to improve the graphics, etc.

I truly believe this is the greatest Pokémon game of all time.

    Perfect mechanics
    Battles flow quickly
Crafting system is something we should've had gens ago
    Finally Pokémon sizes
Story is fairly good as well.

Gen 9 could be stellar if they keep to this. They cannot go back to the old now.

Just chuck in all the old online features which are missing

Did you leave and return to the area to reset spawns?

I tried messing around with my first swarm yesterday but wasn’t sure if I was doing anything

Yeah. Go in, save at camp, go check the spawn, if no shiny close the game and start it up, go back to jubulife and then back into the spawn area and save again.

Rinse and repeat, if the spawn ends when you go back to jubulife restart the game.

It's like a 70% chance the spawn will continue when you restart back to Jubulife.

Hopefully that makes sense! If not watch a quick tutorial it's super easy!

i don’t have a switch but this game is making me want to buy one. my expectations aren’t sky high but this game seems like a console version of POGO with traditional battling mechanics and i’m a sucker for pokemon go so kinda wanna see how this is

I would def recommend getting this and BD/SP tbh. This is far less traditional but it’s a breath of fresh air for the mechanics, and it actually takes some great cues from Go with the in-field catching and berries and s***. But BD is a truly faithful remake for better and for worse and I honestly love it in its own right as a classic 2.5D version of Pokémon

thanks for the insight. yea i def have been wanting to play a traditional pokemon game also, and BD SP would be what I would jump back into. but after Legends Arceus cause i have a feeling i would be addicted to arceus lol

whats the deal with the shiny rate in arceus? you can get it boosted to like 1/500 or something like that? but you need to do a bunch of s*** to reach that point?

  • Feb 2, 2022

and are you allowed to transfer pokemon from pokemon home to legends arceus? that would be crazy OP for me

Yeah I’ll say having finished Diamond right before Arceus that I’m glad I went in the order I did. It adds a whole layer of context and for the first time in memory for a Pokémon game actually made the story kind of interesting with the modern context lol

Also, I think Home support still needs to drop, but idk if you’ll be able to transfer in at least at launch. F***ing hope you can though. No idea about shiny rates but anecdotally the outbreaks seem to have a higher shiny chance for sure

yea was doing some research, supposedly with dex research level 10, dx research perfect, shiny charm, and mass outbreak, the odds are 1/128 which is mental. now not playing the game idk what the f*** any of that means but i do know a 1/128 shiny rate is nuts

Shiny rates are f***ing beyond easy.

Get the Dex level up to 10 of a certain Pokémon (can take no more than 15min. Couple catches, couple battles etc)

And once you defeat the first Tribe Pokémon, Outbreaks unlock (around 3 hours in depending how much you enjoy taking your time)

So level 10 Dex x Outbreak give you the odds of 1/152. And outbreaks always spawn 12 Pokémon.

So with mass reset on outbreaks it shouldn't take you longer than 30/45mins to get a shiny.

The only issue is, is how long it can take to get an Outbreak to occur. And it being a Pokémon you have level 10 outbreak

So for me, it took me around 15/20mins resetting in and out of Jubulife to get Buizel Outbreak.

Then on, it's piss easy. Basically certing yourself a shiny.

You get odds of 1/152 with just Level 10 Pokédex & outbreak!

Which to me is easier than grinding for the shiny charm!

so when you get dex level 10 for a certain pokemon, the odds boost only for that mon?
and can you explain mass resets?

    go ahead

I think this game is leaning more towards the casual side of Pokémon (something like go or LGPE) nothing wrong with that but as much as I love catching, collecting, and exploring I feel like that only does so much for me and the battle system doesn’t feel as deep as other mainline games. I like some new things like frostbite and drowsy instead of frozen and sleep but agile/strong style feels like whatever. During a certain trainer battle late game I realized s*** was kinda bs how they handle turn order like I’d take out their mon and immediately after they can throw out there next Pokémon and attack without me being able to even select my own move or item/switch. Not a fan of it and it’s baffling seeing people saying they should continue future games battle system like this.

Swsh was very mid but it was the most competitive friendly game imo, had the most fun in online battles there (besides dynamaxing, worst gimmick by far). Take all the exploration, catching, and QoL s*** from PLA and mix with it normal battling mechanics/game format and that’d be the perfect Pokémon game for me. Maybe I’m tripping but I’ve seen so many people be like make a game just for battling/pvp/comp and another for stuff like this and that’s just as worse as having 2 versions of the same game. Loved this game and it’s the step in the right direction but I hope they don’t ostracize fans of comp/pvp and s*** but it’s gamefreak so gen 9 will be probably swsh 2.0

Yeah. Literally all you need is level 10 Dex on that certain Pokémon.

Each Pokémon has a Dex level, and certain ways to level them.up but they're super easy!

Check my post up above regarding outbreak resets! It's so easy, also watch Balimes latest video, so easy to follow

Initial impressions before getting to Kleaver

I like this style of roaming around and catching pokemon. It's cool to just venture off and see what pops up although there isn't a whole lot of variety at the moment. I'm still in the first area I guess. I did randomly see a Chimchar walking around and crouched down to catch it. That was dope. Also saw a Gyrados flying around but figured it'd be too high level for me.

I like the way trainer battles and battles in general are handled but I would prefer if we couldn't move our trainer during battles. It doesn't serve a purpose so far and I'd prefer if they just gave us a seamless transition into a nice fixed angle that was over the shoulder.

Some small gripes I have with pastures
    1. There's no way to sort the pastures? Like if I just want to sort by species and have all of my starly grouped together, all of my bidoof grouped together. Doesn't seem like I can.

    2. Why would they include stats and EV's on the pokemon overview but leave out nature? Now I have to go into summary every single time to check the nature of a pokemon before decide which ones I'm keeping and which ones I'm releasing.

I'm not a big fan of open world games so I'll see how I feel about it as I continue to play
