Beat Cynthia first try while underleveled. Ya i healed a bunch but maaaaan, Gengar, Golem and Bronzong are f***ing BEASTS. Gengar with Curse, Hypnosis and Hex >>> Golem with Sturdy and Explosion >>> and Bronzong was honestly my MVP of the Cynthia fight. Set up trick room, garchomp sword dances 😳😳, i put up a future sight. I psychic and get the spdef drop, he kills me. Switch in golem, then explode to drop him to about 20%, future sight finishes it off >>> woulda lost if not for gengar saving my ass with the friendship live on 1 HP against lucario, i hit on hypnosis and hex gets lucario down to enough for Bronzong to come in and get the kill before garchomp comes in

Havent seen anyone playtesting the game who has more good to say than bad

A shame because the concept has some potential, but Game Freak is gonna fumble this bag. I have a feeling it'll ship practically incomplete and there will be a paid update at some point.

i hate to defend game freak (really f*** them for ruining pokemon the last decade) but this just sounds like the person was expecting to level up their mons from friend battles (which has never been the case)

I dont even think it'll be that different from what we're used to. The game is still gonna hold your hand and force you to catch x amount of pokemon as you travel the map locations in a predetermined order

yeah but gameplay isnt the issue, i just like the more freeform movement in it and like throwing your ball just like that, this a definite step in the right diretion even if im gonna miss the cozy ass towns of past games. The first town looks like a camp for refugees

None of that is in the games. It's literally like Monster Hunter. Even down to preparing food and stuff in the wild. You get a mission, go to the area and complete the mission. And of course you can go to each area without a mission and just mess around and find the big bad Pokemon roaming around just like Monster Hunter with it's big bad monsters. When I say it's Monster Hunter and not BOTW I mean that. Game Freak screwed up by making people think it was going to be BOTW like.

This guy didn't play the game. What he means is the game is more single player focus than past games. It's going to be incredibly tedious, not grindy compared to past games.

Im under the impression you CANT explore the map at will, you need a mission to go to a certain zone to be able to unlock it

Nah, it's VERY monster Hunter like. You can go out and explore when not on a mission, but it's like Monster Hunter where you have to pick an area to explore. Everything isn't connected just like Monster Hunter. It's just the areas can be large like monster Hunter. Probably about the same size as those Monster Hunter World maps. That's why we have ride pokemon because they didn't program in your character doing things without Pokemon.
