They changed it. In SwSh there is no custom battles. You can only choose presets. So it's 3v3 or 6v6 at level 50. The only rule with no restrictions 6v6 is set with a 20 min battle time and the battle ends when that 20 mins hit 0:00.
As we know level 50 battles aren't good because certain Pokemon aren't as strong as others at level 50. Speed and damage calculations aren't the same at 50 vs 100. Cinderace for example is extremely bad in a level 50 environment but is a monster at level 100

You have to realize though a level 50 steelix can be a lot weaker than say a Charmeleon at level 50. Level 50 isn't half the stats of level 100. The stats aren't balanced out that's why people don't play at level 50. And in a Gen where EXP candy exist it's no reason to not be able to get to level 100 in mere minutes.

Why wouldn't people be able to connect their joycons to another switch. I don't see the point in that. The memory doesn't follow The joycons. Just do local play have more than one switch.
