Even if Kendrick Lamar didn’t explicitly state something, his actions and the way he allowed certain narratives to unfold still reflect poorly on him. When Kendrick’s label, rather than Kendrick himself, threatened to pull his music if R. Kelly’s tracks were removed from wherever, it created a situation where Kendrick’s supposed moral high ground was “compromised.” The fact that he didn’t publicly denounce or clarify the situation suggests that he was complicit in allowing this narrative to persist. This lack of transparency is problematic, especially for someone who presents himself as a voice of integrity and social consciousness.Again, you can thank your savior.

Kendrick’s failure to correct the record only adds to the perception of hypocrisy. If Kendrick truly stood by the principles he often raps about, he should have been quick to clarify his stance or distance himself from the actions of his label. Instead, by remaining silent, Kendrick allowed a narrative that contradicted his public persona to spread for all those years. This undermines his credibility because Kendrick positions himself as the in the rap community as a morally superior figure. In reality, his actions AND inactions tell a different story.
