certified hawk tuah moment
kinda crazy how Drake fans itt told me “it’s not an official release unless it goes on DSPs” while listening to the Care Package songs before Care Package was on DSPs
That's exactly how "official releases" work. Just because you have the CDQ version of the song available for you to listen to beforehand doesn't make it official and therefore, the record label can sue anyone that owns or spreads such music.
Most labels own the rights to music recordings, not the artists. Legally speaking artists cannot release recordings they have no legal ownership of without consent or proper legal licensure from the owner of the copyright (which is usually the label). There was a time Drake dropped a bunch of songs for free on SoundCloud and Universal kept taking them down, so much so that he had to tweet asking them to stop it. They could do that because they owned the rights to those songs and were well in their place to have them removed unless or until they were released legally, via the label. That's also why when some artists threaten to leak their music, it's considered an act or rebellion, mostly because legally, their labels can sue them for doing that.
That's the major difference between songs being released officially and unofficially.
I had a funnel cake last night then went to sleep
yall were really getting it in
Dog I can’t lie why are you even here just let the drake ppl get off in their own thread
I aint even gonna crash nothing but that is insane

It’s about being fair
The weeknd’s album thread has been around since 2022 but somehow the thread that was just created in the summer about drake’s upcoming album is an “issue” lol
Yeah, is deeper than a locked thread. It's been the weekly power trip
Drake didnt drop an album in the summer the thread doesnt need to be open does it ?
yall talk about the music or potential album in every thread
more threads where people crash out is just more places mods have to look
Nah I meant those songs are amazing but it’s a few songs on a big album he def contributed but Drake did a lot on there too
We know that but to downplay Abel’s contributions is just foolish to me. He had a huge part in the overall vibe and aesthetics and that’s a good thing. Drake was inspired by him and Abel had been inspired by Drake. It resulted in great music from both camps
Wtf just happened to this thread lol
Sab succeeded in ruining the fun for all sides

Fans don’t care about this
If the artist puts the song out that should matter more than what some white guys in an office building want
