some of the beats on here are literally a 4 bar loop that is stretched out for a whole song and doesn’t change in any way. like as soon as you’ve heard the opening 4 bars you’ve heard how the beat is going to be for the entire thing.
some examples of this are the songs Sky, over and not playing. i think Over is actually one of the most interesting songs on here vocally, but the beat is just so repetitive. it doesnt help that the synths sound like someones first time using omnisphere or something, just not an interesting enough progression of notes to carry carti for the 3 minutes he needs to say what he has to say.
Not Playing suffers from the same problem, again a very interesting song vocally but the beat lets it down. aside from some cool moments where the beat is pulled in and out of the song, it doesn’t change at all.
