I'm confused on why they want 2 year old songs they already been listening to
Snippets are dangerous because after listening to them people start projecting their own ideas on a yet non-existent project. It's not even expectations being raised, they basically make their own brain image of the album/song and if the released version doesn't match it, which of course it most likely won't, they are automatically disappointed.
