Dec 25, 2020Playboi Carti, iki yıllık uzun bekleyişin ardından ikinci stüdyo albümünü 2020 yılının noelinde yayınladı. Büyük beklentiler içinde sabahın köründe dinlediğim albüm de tıpkı yayınlandığı yıl gibi beni hayal kırıklığına uğrattı. Sızdırılmış şarkıların çoğunun albümde kendine yer bulamaması, 2017 yılının s/t mixtape'i ve 2018 yılının Die Lit'i aksine albümde Pierre Bourne yalnızca iki şarkıda producer sıfatında bulunması albümün beklentilerimi karışılayamamasının birkaç nedeninden ikisi. Carti, albümün 15. şarkısı Punk Monk'ta Pierre konusunda kayıt şirketi ile anlaşmazlık yaşadığını da belirtiyor. Yeni bir stil deneyen ve albümün ilk yarısında "VamPiR" atmosferi oluşturarak rap yapan Carti'nin bu denemesinin bir hayranı olmadığımı söyleyebilirim. Albümdeki şarkıların çoğunun(önceden sızdırılmış ve albüme eklenmiş şarkıların dışında) aceleyle yapıldığı izlenimindeyim. Bu yönden, albümün executive producer sıfatına sahip Kanye West'in 2018 yılında yayınladığı albümü "ye" ile benzerlik gösterdiğini düşünüyorum.
