They had Uzi talking to an imaginary friend
Man I feel like the reaction to that baby Pluto s*** really f***ing with his head
I think a lot people were too caught up on the wlr leaks and how that sounded and that's what they expected so anything else is just trash. It'll probably grow on them
we gonna need a serious discussion in a month and made a definitive version of WLR and it era of leak
He 21 and spent the last 3 years in Ye’s orbit - been around him daily since 18 - I feel like the fake deep stuff comes with that type of experience. Cool kid, but agree F*** his fake deep s***.
Either way the new video is f***ing amazing, he mad talented
if you're following someone whos trashing first half/saying s*** like ''stop breathing is the worst song of all time, make sure to unfollow them. they're uncultured losers!
hope they fix that pause on place
idk it hits hard!
I agree. I think there's warranted criticism for this project but the highs are almost entirely defined by carti's evolved melodic sensibilities. you can tell he was keen on taking a different angle to this type of music. The highs are visceral in strong ways, whereas I think the theme of 2020 rap has been cheap shock value that may have spawned from everything Soundcloud rap made relevant.
Still, there doesn't feel like much to critically relisten to, which is telling for an artist like Carti, who knows that his offering is essentially a "state of the culture" artistic statement.
Whatever rap becomes from here, I think artists big and small will become a lot more individualized in their own lanes. Its impossible to maintain a threadline of cultural synergy in COVID land, and the strongest thing Carti did here at the end of the day was cement himself in his own lane left-of-center from the other stuff in pop rap.
You said that damn near perfectly,Carti has created his own lane using the same sound/music every artist has been using for almost a decade. If anything, his voice and style of delivering his vocals saves him from being ordinary. The album itself won’t make artist feel influenced to go experiment more but I think artist will just realize “this s*** is played, what’s next”.
An album this hyped that shifts the trap sound ever so slightly is bound to make some type of impact in this climate.
