i here what @02Shaq and other ppl itt are saying. but the RULES are different for these artists and thats why i dont have the motivation to hear this s***.
fiona apple leaves a mistake in the track and its patriarchy-defying "art" (literally what the review says @ one point). if a black artist did that then theyre "lazy".
Conde Nast Pitchfork has been sucking off disposable trap releases for 3 years now to court black readers and hailed releases by Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and Beyonce as the height of creative expression as recently as their end of decade list.
You're making s*** up to delegitimize praise for an album you won't bother listening to.

Yeah of all the negative things I could say about this review/p4k in general, that def wouldn't be one of them.
I mean, the title of this thread literally says a black artist had the only 10 in the past decade haha

what trap albums have they sucked off?
what trap albums have they sucked off?
It's hard to find generic SoundCloud fodder they don't give a 7 or 8 to. Their ratings have gotten so inflated for rap that they're difficult to take seriously.
Nothing higher than like an 8.1 though because they don't actually respect the genre, they just utilize it for clicks.

1. stated multiple times ill give the album a chance.
2. i dont bother reading pitchfork reviews anymore so i wouldnt know what scores they dish out.
what i do know is that black artists are held to a higher standard than others, in MULTIPLE ways. and the media is a tool that pushes that kind of racist and slanted consumption of music.
so i dont want to listen to an album where the f***ing thread title is "x wack media publication with 90% ca.c authors and 90% ca.c viewers gave this a 10!!"
and i dont give a f*** if pitchfork specifcally "courts black leaders". its the signal u send when you make this s*** about those sites and those standards. its F*** those people since ye said it

Uzi got an 8.4 for a mediocre album, I don't think that's the case anymore

You're just making s*** up to defend your weird stance to defend an album you didn't listen to. You don't even know the context of the "mistake" that was left in, but you're using that from the review to make this reach.
P4k gave Mud Boy a BNM and praised his use of the word b**** as an adlib. They gave Die Lit a BNM and said it doesn't matter if he didn't improve as a rapper. Pitchfork isn't infallible, there's plenty of reasons to criticize them. But what you're saying just isn't reality.

crazy that i repeated multiple times that i am willing to listen to the album. i started hating bc the thread title and the way yall were speaking on the music rubbed me the wrong way.
and i said it earlier, i dont give a f*** about pitchforks specific reviewing tendencies. i dont want to listen to music that ktt praises just because white people validated it.
but i WILL still listen to this one since its apparently a classic.
yall dont even understand how this s*** works. they throw black artists a bone once in a while to keep up a FACADE of being non racist

i get that. and i respect your opinion. i was just frustrated and came into the thread hating.

Not gonna read the rest of this thread, I know y'all 14-15 year olds are gonna make me cringe and Fiona's music isn't for y'all anyway

Yeah I wouldn't have hit submit if I saw your most recent post before mine. I get you.
Out of all the publications though I just don't think P4k is one that has a racist slant against black musicians. Their only bias that I've seen is when an artist s***s on them or does something outside of music that they disagree with.

Good decision.

don't worry about it bro, I agree that we shouldn't pay P4K any attention
P4k is trash but they got this right. Still think they should’ve waited a week to publish this.
