for reference, I like Veeze but how is this album better than Utopia?

I’m not knocking but i’m geniuely curious as to how people think this album is better, I’d love to hear opinions
different demos
niggas like me aint even gonna listen to that travis s*** so why compare them
I'd be a bit more charitable than this, but I'm glad the p4k brass chose this review to go with. It'd be easier to give It a 7.8 and be thankful that there's some weird features and arabic samples on a mainstream rap album again.
the spectacle of Pablo created the faux-greatness template in hip hop, where youre one cross-cultural collab and 7-figure album budget away from mass and critical appeal. fans and critics alike should expect more

It’s like comparing an indie movie to a big budget blockbuster - completely different kinds of albums. Veeze album is tighter, better flows and bars and way more charisma. Travis album has production value and impressive features but overall I find myself listening to Veeze more

they're aiming for 2 completely different things so you judge them differently
Are you saying they didn't die
It was a really sad accident, they died, but they weren't killed imo, that sounds weird.
There are responsible people and its not Travis fault directly, yall know this tho, im not revealing something.
Also i find the review pretty accurate, the score is too low, but yeah the album sounds super nice, its interesting, but he aint saying s*** (like always lmao i wasn't expecting something else)... it's not really wrong
Alphonse Pierre loves plenty of meaningless fast food rappers. Go check his recent reviews on Pitchfork. The problem is that in addition to having no substance in his music, Trav also has no charisma. He can't sell himself as a person. You can get away with saying nothing if you're funny and likeable, but not even the biggest Trav stan would use those words to describe him lol
I would argue his music connects in other ways. He doesn't have to say anything meaningful, his success is in the world he creates and the character hes playing. Why does travis need to sell himself as a person? He doesn't have to. And his success proves that you CAN get away with not being funny or likeable as long as you make good music and have a talent for actually making good music.

There are legit amazing songs on Pablo and the overall experience has something to say about the artist who created it. P4k actually nailed their review of that one when everyone else was underrating it on release.
To be real about this importance of lyrics debate going on, the loudest people are those who believe lyrics aren’t important at all. Not coincidentally the young male millennial-gen Z dominated internet we use. But there’s a whole world of demographics - and generations - that feel the opposite. We really underestimate how important lyrics are to not only long-standing traditions of what constitutes as “good music” but types of groups. These groups exist outside of our bubble…and even within it
Why do we think the so-called Big Three is still…kinda the big three a whole decade and plenty of waves coming and going in between? Just my thoughts tho
There's music that have no lyrics at all that are phenomenal pieces of music. Music doesn't have to have lyrics to be great. I think the world travis creates with his music is more interesting than just lyrics or lyrical rappers and there's a pocket for him in rap

It’s the same thing tbh
I have mixed feelings about it so far but still leaning towards positive. Too soon to say

I don’t think I’m gonna hate it tho. Probably my feelings will become more positive over time
Once my eyes glazed over to (guess who did the review) I paused, looked up from my phone and glared through the dewy melted sand with a mix of disgust, albeit unsurprisingly so, with but one thought running through my brain…
“The gall of this b**** ass nigga Alphonse Pierre. Tuh.”
It's like a 7.2
Definitely above average but it's just another Travis Scott album that sounds good when it's on and gets carried by features
def not carried by features
def not carried by features
I haven't been able to remember a new Trav verse in years

that’s not you not him, considering he’s had a large number of smash hits w memorable verses
