Instead of just enjoying and a***yzing great musicianship and great songs it always has to be angled into some politically charged intellectual thesis statement.
She made 16 amazing songs for the club with lyrics like “drop it like a thotty drop it like a thotty” and somehow they interpreted the album as a “conduit for radical Black anger”
It's so funny how the Pitchfork review for HNVM critiqued the album lyrics but nobody gonna question Beyonce calling herself a thotty at 40 amongst all the other terrible lines on this album

I think Renaissance is a fantastic album, but I agree, lyrically it’s nothing special or noteworthy.
But I don’t think that’s a negative thing because house music isn’t about lyrics, which is why I don’t understand why Pitchfork used that as a critique against Honestly, Nevermind

4 is criminally underrated. Probably the sound I want her to revisit most. Pop Bey is undefeated especially with people like Frank on the writing
