FAR better tackling, better communication in the back-7 when passing off routes, less egregious penalties, using more under center formations which opens up a more diverse run game (which itself leads to under center play action as an "easy button" to unlock the middle of the field)

If I am going to be critical of the coaching staff when the players look unprepared, undisciplined, and not properly maximized, I must give them credit when the team shows up and delivers

Beyond bringing in outside help at pass rusher I think the defense still has another wrinkle it can throw in with some of the in-house talent

When we go to our dime package, we go with one LB (think it's typically Baun) and bring Avonte Maddox in. The defense won't be maximized until he is out of the picture entirely. When Sydney is fully caught up to speed our dime packages should be dropping CJ down into the slot with Sydney over the top in obvious pass situations, or if we wanna do big nickel have Sydney be the pseudo-linebacker with CJ still over top

Trade deadline coming up, we all know what it is really. Defense is steadily improving but you can never have enough pass rush. However, here is what Vic Fangio said when asked about bringing in additions at the deadline:

He's basically saying if it ain't a star then don't bother. This might be a year where we have a really quiet deadline tbh
