"Type 1 (HSV-1) mostly spreads by oral contact and causes infections in or around the mouth (oral herpes or cold sores). It can also cause genital herpes. Most adults are infected with HSV-1. Type 2 (HSV-2) spreads by sexual contact and causes genital herpes."
Wait, so both types of herpes can result in genital herpes?
No. Type 2 is genital. Type 1 is Oral. I’ve “heard” getting head from a woman with Type 1 “might” lead to you get Type 2 on the d***. But idk.
Been seeing this great woman for few weeks now and everything has been going well. Up until a week ago where she disclosed that she has herpes (Type 1, on your privates), but is continuously taking medication for it and everything. Not going to lie, it’s been on my mind since then and I’m just in a pickle as to whether to continue or end things.
For more context, she has it for about a decade at this point and based on my research, along with the notes she got from a doctor, transmission rates about 1% or less (assuming ALL safeguards are taken).
What are your thoughts? I’m just completely on the fence and I’m not sure where to proceed. Never been in this a situation like this. At the same time I’m just so tired of being alone and not having anyone to be with, since my wife cheated and left me 8 years ago.
Outside of this matter we click together extremely well, she’s been incredibly helpful, and is just someone almost like no other given my nonexistent dating life.
I’d appreciate advice, this been dangling over my head
Pass bro. 1% chance of gettting it and this girl catches it???
What other unlucky s*** is gonna happen to this girl!??
Dealbreaker for me, when I’m out cheating I don’t want to pass that s*** to my partner
Some nigga on the second page called Herpes a Little League STD…….
Not gonna even quote him. Might catch something myself.

@op Just did some research and there are working on multiple vaccines with the first due to be completed June 2025.
Obviously take all precautions to avoid getting it, but rest assured that probably by 2030 or before there will be a vaccine for those who don’t already have it and it will hopefully prevent you from catching the real thing.
If you see a LTR with her then go for it. Already sounds like you made up your mind if you made a KTT thread about it though
Yes.

It’s more like want to see what rest of yall think, and personally we’re intending for an LTR
if you've been sexually active in your life, there's a fair chance you're already a carrier of hsv1, symptoms or not. i'd say go for it
