yup a lot of modern games with High settings play at 30fps 4k with a GTX 1080 tier card

I personally would just get a used 20 series card right now if I was going to be gaming at 1440p or 1080p

the performance increase outside of 4k seems pretty meh but 1440p is still a decent upgrade, 1080p seems pointless unless we get some faster CPUs soon

Yeah I'm on 1080p 144hz so I'm looking for a good deal on a used 2080 or just waiting for 3060

yeah used 20 series prices should drop a lot when the 30 series actually is in stock, nice high refresh gaming is coming down in price

Hey y’all I finally made the decision to ditch consoles and go with PC. I have a wishlist in Newegg and just want some advice on the parts I selected so far.

    i7 8 core 3.6Ghz
    rtx 2070

I know there are more pieces but I think a good start is getting the right CPU and GPU. I’m not concerned with having the very latest technology if most games don’t support it right now. Just want something that’s a good starting point then upgrade later. I’m open to any suggestions.

Nice. Perfect if all you're gonna do is gaming.

I will say that take look on the used market for your RTX 2070. Retail prices for those are too high rn so I don't recommend buying retail

Thanks! As far as used parts which parts I should buy for retail? I’m assuming the CPU should be new.

Id recommend pretty much everything be new for obvious reasons. I only recommended used for your 2070 because due to the new launch of the 3000 series of GPUs, the 2000 series has a horrible value as retailers cant really drop the msrp, so the only way to get it at what it should really be valued at is the used market.
