If this exact trailer had Greta Girwigs name on it instead of PTA, would perception be different

I personally like her s*** but I hear you. A lotta ppl say that about PTA films “if another director made this it would be trashed”

It looks fun which is not how I'd initially describe a single PTA film

What? Boogie Nights, Punch Drunk Love and Inherent Vice are fun.

When I first heard about vulgar auteurism I liked that it opened up an appreciation of filmmakers who are often dismissed but now it’s like just transformed into s***ting on well respected ones. Now you have intelligent adults with a straight face saying W.S. Anderson’s Pompeii > all PTA

Boogie and Punch drunk definitely isn’t fun bro. PTA is a goat at doing character studies

The untitled project, centered on a high school student, is planning to go into production next year.

Paul Thomas Anderson is returning to his San Fernando Valley roots to make a new film set in the 1970s, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The untitled film will be centered on a high school student who is also a successful child actor. Anderson will write, direct and produce the project through his Ghoulardi Film Company banner. Sources say casting is underway to find the lead and the project features a multitude of roles and could be ensemble in nature or have intersecting storylines.

Make no mistake, PTA is possibly the greatest working filmmaker right now - outside of maybe Scorsese.

I'm just saying that "fun" is not the word I regularly use to describe his films.

Most of his films are hilarious at points, most of them just aren't "light-hearted" or "fun" films overall because they each carry a significant amount of emotional weight.

I know what you mean but like other dude said he doesn't sacrifice entertainment value for it were always the only people laughing in the cinema tbh I feel like people let the overall heaviness get to them

I agree, I was just surprised by how light-hearted this trailer looked.
