Fam I’m not saying “turn this into a silent film”….we having a real convo or you just gonna keep being a d***?

What I’m saying is, my point has been the movie is portrayed as a cute romance film and never that the Alana character is in the wrong. You said you disagree.

So I’m asking if you remove any implications of the age gap, what in the film displays that she is morally wrong? In red rocket if you remove implications of the age gap, the main character is still clearly displayed as a creep. Her saying “I’m 17” isn’t needed because of the type of film Sean presented.

That’s been my entire point of why I dislike the film, that it’s presented as a cute romance flick where she’s playing hard to get but eventually Gary gets her. You said you disagree, so I’m asking where in the film does PTA display she’s morally wrong as a character? And how is that even possible when PTA himself doesn’t think Alana is in the wrong…..

Nah I feel you. I mean I’m like you I enjoy hang out movies too. But I ain’t tryna hang out with no Pedo for 2 hours lmao

So yeah PTA missed the mark big time with this. But imagine if he made a hang out type movie with Bradley’s character OMG.

Honestly this is how you fix this movie:
Make Alana and Gary strictly brother sister vibes, ACTUAL friend vibes.
Put a lot more Bradley
and tweak the story around to fit the new adjustments

I hate the ending as well, up there with Baby Driver as a cop out but Alana’s interactions with almost anyone prove her as immature. Her snapping at her family because her date is pretentious, her failing to play hard to get with the boy and kissing a random dude, etc.

I don’t think anyone is denying Bradley’s character was f***ed in the head and obviously that kiss was wrong.

So let’s talk about how Alana showing a 15 year old her b**** is wrong…

Even if parts of it grow on me, which I’m like 90% sure it will, I don’t think I’ll feel different about the ending. The truck scene was SOOOOO F\*\*\*ING GOOD and that silence as Alana realizes that this dude is a kid still was really powerful. Like it all came to her head. Then it just ends like a happy ending Hollywood style. It just felt… lazy. As if that whole scene didn’t matter. I see people say it’s bittersweet in reality that it’ll never work but they could’ve easily conveyed that if they wanted to. Instead it ends with them passionately kissing and saying I love you. Oh well
