I was doing Hierophant with armageddon brand kinda by accident I really wanted to be more melee didnt realize templar would be so much like a fire mage lol found a holy hammers buildguide AFTER I was already mapping and then I accidentally bricked my character by wasting all my gold and resources
now im trying out poe2 for the first time, ice shot ranger

yeah I believe u idk it just hasnt clicked for me. like coming up against a boss in soulsborne and not feeling u can be bothered learning the fight. i get to the first tower in maps and my reward is more maps its like okay the eternal content might not be my type of game. and everything I learned from campaign is different now in terms of builds, stats, filters, market etc

A good chunk of people don't play much maps either, they just blaze through campaign with a bunch of alts in both PoE1 and 2.
Maps are where you actually have to pretty much have your build planned out, otherwise you're gonna hit the some brick walls in either bossing or going up tiers.
I haven't played PoE2 since the beta release but I complete the Atlas every league I play in 1. That to me is like the bare minimum I get through lol. Ubers and filling out the challenges are like the cherry on top. But I'm more of a 1-2 character per league kinda guy. If you get bored easily with one playstyle, it can be tough to keep going but it's a good way to learn the game.
