    Chapter 1 - A Welcome Gift

Looking out of the Uber, I begin to see the massive estate sitting on a small hill in the Santa Rosa Valley. As the driver turns onto the street, he begins to slow down, signalling that I have arrived. As he stops the car, we both unfasten our seatbelts and get out. He assists me with my bags as I thank him and proceed to the front gate. Standing at the gate, I can hear the slight sound of a rooster breaking the silence in the air. Moments after letting my emotions and the environment to sink in, I press the buzzer. A few seconds of silence pass until I hear a slight static frequency before a deep manly voice speaks. “Who is it?” asks Jahron. “Curtis!” I reply. The static fades away as the gates begin to slowly and gracefully open as if I am entering heaven.

Walking up the driveway, I see a stable, probably for goats, sitting empty on the property. Following the driveway, shrubs and many plants travel along the path. As I get to the top, I see the mansion towering over me. Before I can even get to the door, I see it beginning to open. Standing right under the doorframe is a beautiful woman, with curls and a bluish-purple bathrobe. Impatiently waiting alongside her is a barking, black French Bulldog who later goes quiet as this woman commands her to stop. I smile and say, “Good morning!” as she signals for me to enter with a smile on her face. As I walk with her, Desma, and Lil Bae towards the kitchen, I hear a familiar “tahaaaa!”

When we get to the kitchen, I see Jahron standing near the kitchen island talking to J Wray. As I go and hail up both of them, Desma offers the idea of us going outside to chill near the pool. Jahron says, “Nah I first got to show this man what I just cooked up.” Being happy to hear this welcoming gift, we all start to make our way upstairs towards the studio. On the way, I see plaques and posters hanging from the wall and even a photo of Jahron and Desma. J Wray whispers to me “this albums gonna be something else, I’m telling you!” As Jahron opens the door, he sees me smiling and asks, “Wrr what did Jamal just tell you?” J Wray smiles back at Jahron leading to a quick but enthusiastic “tahaa!”

    uh no

As we get into the studio, I am quickly welcomed with a faint scent of weed and scented candles from presumably night before. In front of me sits an expansion of musical and recording devices that Jahron quickly sits down with. He says, “This is definitely going to be on the album, I just don’t know where, but this fits the theme.” Right before the song begins to play, Jahron gracefully looks up while biting his lip and stares at the word “Férina” that hangs from the wall. Jamal and Desma glance at it too before they slowly lower their head. As I see all of this happen in such a short time, I begin to realize how much this all means to them, especially Jahron. The beat slowly creeps into the speakers and travels out and through the room. I quickly sense familiarity with this beat but instantly become distracted by the atmospheric production. Out of the speakers comes Jahron’s voice, one with the beat saying, “She, spent her whole night at the club...” The drum pattern along with the time warp-like loop and his enunciation had me in a trance. He then proceeds to sing, “She, wasn’t looking for love but she felt it, when she seen me, it was in her eyes, I seen her eyes, they seemed surprise, it was love.” My jaw dropped hearing this musical composition and Jahron could sense how much I enjoyed the record. He nonchalantly asked, “What do you think of it?” I replied, “Grr gah damn! You’re really gonna drop another classic” J Wray chuckled as he made the connection with the reference. Jahron said, “I have produced and completed most of the album and I’ll see what I can show you next, but for now I think that’s enough.”

We leave the studio and Jahron and J Wray make their way back down as Desma quickly shows me where my room is. As she leaves the room, I begin to unpack my bag. I then make my way towards the bathroom to go for a shower. Stepping into the shower stall it finally hits me, the greatness that I had just witnessed by the so called, “Durag Jesus”. Throughout the shower, I continue to sing those first few lines, mesmerized by the emotion and song writing skills Party possesses. As I get out of the shower, I hear the doorbell ring and try to make out the familiar voice that I can faintly hear.

    Chapter 2 - A Visit from a Friend

As I scramble to put my clothes on, I begin to feel as if I am “fan-girling” hearing Jahron and this familiar fellow talking. I quickly get ready and spray a little bit of the cologne that was left on the counter, courtesy of Jahron. I leave the bathroom and begin to make my way towards the staircase. As I begin to walk down the steps, I see the back of a jacket, one that I have not seen before. Across the back it says “Scorpion”, “June Twenty Eighteen” and “by: Drake.” My mind starts going crazy as I realize that the voice that sounded so familiar from the bathroom was Drake. As he hears my footsteps coming down the lower part of the staircase, he turns around. The colossal smile that Drake always gives off glares right at me as the light shines and leads to his diamond covered tooth to sparkle. This very moment begins to feel like a fantasy. My two favorite artists standing side by side, what a time to be alive. As I go to hail up Drake, he smiles and says what most Toronto mans say, “Nyeeeahh ehhh!” He continues, “You got a good taste in cologne huh? Mans rockin that Tuscan Leather.” Jahron laughs and says, “Chill, I gave that to him.” “Yeah and I bought it for you!” says Desma. We all laugh at her joke as Jahron stands there embarrassed. Shortly after, Drake looks at me with a curious face and asks, “Yo Curtis, I’m gonna need your input on something alright, I’m tryna decide what to do with this one song.” I give him a quick nod with a slight smile. J Wray breaks the silence and pitches the idea for all of us to go in the backyard so he can light a Backwoods. We all agree to the plan as Lil Bae once more leads the way out into the back.

As we walk out of the patio door, the sun hits us at what seems like a 45-degree angle. Jahron makes his way towards the patio sofa as the sun gracefully shines upon him. He begins to shake his head to move his braids out of the way, similar to the ending of the “Wus Good/Curious” video. Sitting on the sofa, he reaches for his white durag and begins to put it on. As he puts on the durag he begins to murmur something. It sounds a little bit like a flow of words, some sort of hook. I look at Drake sitting on a nearby chair slowly opening his eyes as he hears these prophetic words from Jahron. Drakes head begins to bob back and forth with the lyrics. J Wray recognizes what is happening and quickly makes eye contact with me. This leads me to realize that something very special is occurring. The creation of a Drake and Party track is unfolding right in front of my eyes. Some birds begin to fly above our head as this moment continues. Two birds from the flock come and sit right beside us. One beside Jahron and the other near Drake. Jahron dishes out a quick 30-second verse that contains an abundance of emotion and love for some girl. Drake takes a big whiff of the smell of weed in the air and drops a Take Care-like verse. Everything seems to become quiet as he begins to finish his verse as his eyes slowly tear up from talking about “this girl.”

As Drake looks at me, I can begin to see all the emotion hiding behind his face. He says, “I came here to work out something with Party, and like always we just smash one out the park, in one go.” Jahron nods to agree with the statement and then hails up Drake and says, “I gotchu!” Drake looks down on the floor still in an emotional state and says, “This album has brought a lot out of me. I dug so deep to uncover all of my emotions that I have been hiding these past few years. The same old Drake is still inside me, he always will be.” Drake looks at Jahron and says, “Yo this was dope, I just gotta get one more verse and we can hit the studio, I just need to be in the right state of mind and environment.” Jahron looks at me, then looks at Drake, and says, “I know the perfect place.”

    Chapter 3 - Jahron’s Room of Inspiration

The evening passes and the sun has set in the Santa Rosa Valley area. Drake finishes getting ready not knowing where Jahron will take us. I begin to laugh a little bit as I see Drake starting to become anxious. I assure him that Jahron knows what he is doing and that he will get the results he needs. As we continue to talk, we start to see Jahron gracefully walk down the stairs. His outfit is similar to the one from the Colours 2 short film, a white durag, sunglasses and a black button-up. We open the door and make our way out towards the car as we hear a faint, “Have fun!” from Desma. Jahron unlocks the Range Rover; we all get in and shortly cruise out of the estate.

As we travel along the winding roads of the valley, I begin to see the lights of the nearby strips/plazas. Despite all the light from the cities, the stars in the nighttime sky are still fully visible. I find it funny how despite so many stars living on this side of the continent, there are still more to be seen in the sky. I shortly snap out of my astronomical thoughts as we begin to get closer to our destination. The emotion in the atmosphere begins to rub off on me. Looking at everything in my sight makes me realize something special will happen. My mind and body starts to give out as my eyes begin to close as the music puts me asleep.

    (knock knock knock)

    (knock knock knock)

Drake opens the door with a Jungle reference saying, “no sleeping on the streets, shakkkkyyy warrior.” I look at him and just laugh. As my mind begins to wake up, I make my way out of the car. Right in front of me stands a huge building with dim lighting and covered windows. Vibrations from the music inside is felt throughout the concrete sidewalk. I smirk gently as my intuition was right as to where Jahron was going to take us.

We get through the bouncers and inside you begin to see the dim but somewhat colorful lighting. The light softly illuminates onto the room full of dancers. Three main stripper poles attached from the ceiling to the ground stand still as beautiful women dance along it. The smooth melodies of the R&B tracks play through the air as money rains onto the bodies of the women. We begin to make our way to the booth near the VIP area as I start to sense Jahron getting into his creative mind. After we sit down, he slowly distances himself from the conversations as he begins to be lost in space despite the strippers performing right in front of him. This all begins to remind me of that short scene in the Freak in You video.

I turn my head to the side and realize the same is finally happening to Drake. He sits cross-legged looking right through the dancer as if she was not there. Sitting in the middle of the two not knowing what to do, I begin to throw some of my money at the dancer and eventually begin to take some of their bills as I run out of my own. Half an hour passes and Jahron finally snaps out of it after realizing his money is being tossed and starts laughing. Drake shortly snaps out of it as well and we all throw our money at her. As she starts her half a million dollar dance, I ask Drake how the night is so far. He replies saying, “Yo Jahron, I don’t know why you never told me about this before but I got enough ideas to write a whole R&B album. I may just make a two sided album to be honest.” Jahron smiles and simply says, “this is where classics are made, the energy that you receive here leads to some amazing ass songs.” He continues saying, “I used to go to the Miami strip clubs a lot in 2015 while I was writing P2. That is where it all started. Freak in You was probably my most strip club influenced song prior to the songs that are now on Club Atlantis. I hope that my fans will enjoy this type of album; I am really taking my time with it. It’s straight party and unapologetic.”

After a few hours or so of talking, we eventually decide to leave and head back as the sun begins to peak along the horizon. I once more pass out in the car and eventually wake up once we reach the gates of the estate. While we leave the car and walk towards the house, I can hear everyone inside talking. We get inside and I quickly wave with a soft, “Goodnight!” to everyone before I make my way upstairs. I quickly hail up Drake and then Jahron, letting him know how much fun I had tonight. After going upstairs and brushing my teeth, I begin to have a weird feeling of something special happening tomorrow. I do not give this intuition too much thought as I quickly pass out on the bed.

Stay tuned for the next chapter that will release within the coming weeks to find out who the two geniuses are. I hope you enjoyed!
