i picked the worst day to stumble on desma’s ig story
wtf have I just seen
Neenyo on producing the classic that is Sex On The Beach
I started this idea in October 2012, the same week Disclosure uploaded it to Soundclound. We were working on songs for PND 1, we didn’t even realize this was going to be a project at the time. Party and I had just recently relocated to Miami, and with that came the strain of a long-distance relationship. This was the first post-breakup beat I made. I hit Party at like 3 a.m. with the beat and he loved it instantly.
No other artist would’ve understood this at the time. 2012 R&B was Beyoncé, Usher and Chris Brown’s comeback, and we’re here referencing Deep House and UK Garage.
Two years later, Disclosure releases “Latch” as a single in North America and “Sex On the Beach” finally gets released on PND 2.
This was also my first time experimenting with a 6/8 time signature.
