    Emotion

Just looked like poor people finessing their way into opportunities to me

It's definitely way deeper than that.
I'd highly recommend watching some YouTube vids breaking down this film

There is SO MUCH symbolism to be found throughout the entire film

Well this is my personal list and it’s very subjective — by no means am I a film critic. I’m very well aware that a lot of these movies aren’t technically masterpieces. If I were trying to be objective, Moonlight and WOWS would be on here.

I have a strong predilection towards disturbing and shocking films. If I walk away bothered, offended, or shocked I’m automatically predisposed to love the film. That’s probably why I enjoy the work of Ari Aster, Lars von Trier, etc. As a result, Suspiria, Mother, and others make the list (even though these films aren’t really THAT good).

For this same reason I really enjoy Enter the Void (masterpiece imo) and Antichrist. Both aren’t THAT good and fairly pretentious but god damn I’m a sucker for shock & awe lol.

If anything though, I highly recommend The Act of Killing. It’s pretty f***ing wild — not to mention very difficult to describe. And if you’re down for an anime love story, Your Name is pretty amazing.

I know this an old post but seeing you trying to defend yourself saying films like Enter The Void, Mother! etc aren’t “that good” makes me sad these are f***ing classics bro, on a technical level as well. Have a little more faith in your own opinion, just because these type of films are divisive because people are used to see safe & happy movies doesn’t mean they aren’t as great as some films that get praised by nearly everyone

U could def find it in the dvd section at amoeba/rasputin in the early 2000s.

Maybe not an official usa release tho I guess.

nah it’s supposed to be confusing and you aren’t supposed to get it. That’s what makes it so good.
