This is not better than Hereditary.
I disagree, hereditary is gassed up and boring imo. Believe what you want tho.
Oz sounds kinda lame
On the one hand, I want to identify or atone with the father by going down the same path and representing the good name in the genre in question, but then I also have a sort of a distaste for it,” Perkins explains. “I wouldn’t say I’m someone who likes or dislikes horror movies. I don’t see new ones. I have no interest. I’ll never see “MaXXXine”, I’ll never see “Pearl”. I saw “X” for reasons; it wasn’t on purpose. I don’t see contemporary things. They don’t interest me at all, and that’s not to say that they aren’t great. I’m sure they are great and make a lot of people happy, which is all that really matters. But I like the horror genre because it’s the genre that permits the most invention and it encourages the most poetry. It’s all guessing and grasping at what is essentially unknowable.
He could have just said he don’t like slashers lol. He makes a good point at the end.

Dude sounds like one of them people who acts too cool to watch other peoples work.
what do u think
I say out of all the horror movies that have left an impression on me in the past decade this definitely is up there with Hereditary and Talk to me . Definitely wouldn’t say it’s better but it deserves every bit of praise it’s getting and will leave a lasting impression on you
i do not love arguing i’m just right most of the time and i haven’t argued with anyone itt bro lol chill. That guy you quoted isn’t talking about me…
wait this better than hereditary?!?!?
i didn’t like hereditary very much man. I thought it was underwhelming to say the least. Once again just my opinion but i enjoyed this much more and only brought that movie up because i’ve seen quite a few people compare this movie’s atmosphere and style to hereditary.

My bad I’m so used to seeing u go back and forth with ppl when I do see u post . I just find it funny especially cause it’s usually the other person getting angry lol

Feel like he could’ve worded it better if it’s boils down to wanting to not get influenced by your peers. Feel like horror is the genre you see the most big upping, it’s not uncommon to see other horror directors praise their peers works

I would go as far to say it’s way better than Talk To Me. Also Hereditary, but I know I’m in the minority about Hereditary

"i dont see contemporary things" is so corny lmao
this was hard
but honestly the final act gets a bit convoluted for my taste
maika monroe is incredible though, i can't believe we're coming up on 10 years of her being a leading lady, i'm feeling old, it's amazing to see her developed in this way
I like a movie that’s really serious/grim in tone that also says the devil is literally real and he’s a big furry goat, or a black-on-black Darth Maul

its true. how does ti west compete with nope
It was an actual laugh moment when Cage is doing this s*** talking to the girl and her mom on the street

He lives down stairs from everybody! You can even call him the man DOWN STAIRS

This just sounds like a consumption preference. And honestly, I don't mind that he's stuck in the past. Maxxxine is also stuck in the past. That's the whole point lol.
Someone asked Ti West what he'd enjoyed recently and he could only name two streaming TV shows. Couldn't name a single recent movie he saw or liked

Ti West is an absolute hack and all his movies are dogshit but he and Oz ain't wrong. Cinema been dead for a while now and its much better to watch old s*** than to keep watching modern s*** when 99.9% of it is trash. They ain't wrong to not f*** with this bs.
