its the democrats. we'd get mental health checks, maybe a sales ban on some of the more egregious assault weapons and that's basically it
even the most left democrats would never even seriously consider anything that is gonna take people's existing guns away
It's unenforcable. Having guns isn't why people do mass casualty events. They seek out guns to do them or vehicles or whatever is at hand.
I'm not anti-gun in general but if it leads to the balkanization of the US, good

when I was younger I too thought gun control could stop school shootings but man that's not gonna do s***.
Nor is blaming the mentally ill/quiet kid stereotype gonna stop school shootings either because it's insulting and two, if every social outcast was looked at as a threat than every minority kid from this point on would be public enemy #1.
What you gotta look at is the source of this s***, why is it consistently the same demographic?
gun control would help
every red dot is a shooting that would at least be somewhat affected by a gun control bill banning straw purchases, forcing safe storage, banning assault weapons, mandatory background checks and a red flag law
obviously not all (none) of those are realistic to happen and even in a situation where they did happen people still find ways to get guns but those will at least limit the access to the weapons that can just mass kill
the root of the problem still has to get addressed but gun control will definitely help

Kid having a whole ass countdown on his ig while referencing the severed deer head should have been a huge red flag for the administration. Which leads to the next point about schools being understaffed. In addition to more counselors, schools should have "virtual security guards" as well, imo with finstas and alt twitter accounts.

the more difficult the less likely it is to happen. In countries that introduced gun control laws even suicide rates went down since other means of suicide are much more difficult and less people will pull through than simply pulling a trigger.
Just because something isnt 100% protective and secure doesnt mean the attempt itself couldnt help.
America is a huge country and has a idiotic gun culture of course the mass shootings wouldnt go to 0. Especially because they would do the laws as half assed as possible. Doesnt mean they wouldnt decline.
