for me its just that there's so many more mc's i'd put over him rather than about how good he is as an mc

like there's so many guys who are straight up untouchable on the top ten lists that i dont see a spot for him especially cuz some of those guys have no bad albums and he has at least one imo

    First Take

Him having 1 borderline classic is the big argument. I don’t think ppl really care about ghostwriters like that anymore

you can call NWTS borderline although from what I've seen it's pretty much widely accepted as a classic but take care is easily a classic there is no "borderline" about it

You cannot look back on 2010s Hip-Hop and ignore Take Care. How you still gonna argue if it's a classic

    SUPER RED

He has 0 substance and only raps about relationships with the depth of high school flings and recently began to rap about sending empty threats to his imaginary ops

OP deleted my post and I’m reposting again 😐😐😐

if we talking about drakes contemporaries, is drake even a better straight up rapper than rick ross?

    i don't think so.

Am I the only one who noticed that Nice For What feels like a sequel to Best I Ever Had?

For one they seem to be in the same key, and from a musical standpoint NFW is a NO Bounce version of BIEH. The former deals in a man professing his love for a woman's natural beauty (presumably the natural beauty of all women, much like NFW) while NFW takes that further in a man bigging every day women up who deal with the hardships of life

One could also read that NFW is a spiritual successor to its legendary sample Ex-Factor by Lauryn Hill. The woman (or women at large) Drake is speaking to could be seen as a stand in for Lauryn's "character" in Ex-Factor, and "nice for what to these niggas" pertaining to the same guy who emotionally manipulated Lauryn as depicted in Ex-Factor

...I mean why else take NFW's angle over that sample?
