May 12, 2020Damn I got in this s*** super late. I think it boils down to two things.
1) Drake is not a traditional rapper. And IMO has never really made a pure rap album. So it's hard to rank against others that were more rap focused.
2) Drake detractors ALWAYS ALWAYS downplay anything that work in his favor. Regardless of how impressive it is.

You’re missing the point and it’s honestly annoying me a bit. I’m talking Kenny in this era. He gave us GKMC which while still being a lyrical body of work was more accessible and easier to digest from a casual pov. He was huge in 2012/2013 off that and had he continued doing that type of music he’d be #1. But he didn’t do that. He made TPAB which was as far away as you could get from easily digestible in today’s climate.
And you think in 10 years people will want to hear kendrick? You really using old artists not hitting to make some strange case? So because kendrick is popular now he gonna remain popular?
