I’m saying it kills traffic. Rapsody thread versus god got an afro thread that oblivion made afterwards that besides me is crickets man lol.

Cause the few niggas that listened to this and that already got their thoughts out I suppose. Hopefully it doesn't go that way moving forward because of a simple change like this. I really don't see why it should

album thread would’ve done more numbers if the people who listened didn’t already post about the album in the artist thread

people are gonna drop their takes regardless, it stifles discussion to keep it all in one artist thread

imo artist threads are going to come back naturally at some point, being built from the ground up, but they have to go away first to fix what’s wrong with them

they were trying to “she’s a small artist so we just discuss all albums in the artist thread” RAPSODY ffs lol

and even if an artist is “small”, imagine being a small artist, searching for discussion on your album, and having to be like “yea it’s right here on page 4 of the thread about a completely different album” when it could just.. be its own discussion topic

having more threads on here about small artists is GOOD, it helps people recognize their names, it shows growth in discussion over time, and it gets rid of clutter from threads about popular artists’ deodorant or whatever they talk about in Drake sxn

if 80% of the threads on here are 1-page threads on smaller artists, that’s so much better than 2% of the threads on here being 10-page megathreads on smaller artists

Artist threads definitely have their purpose and I think are best suited for stuff like discussing tours, past albums, interviews and appearances, etc. If they were used like that and not having discussion of all their new releases being jammed in one thread amongst a sea of all the other stuff, I think it would've been just fine and nothing would've needed to change tbh. @Oblivion99 artist threads were the exception in how they were organized. Wouldnt call this my overall aoty man too many r&b/pop albums that scratch that itch for me a bit better.

I’m also getting to a place in life where I can acknowledge greatness even if it aint my forte. And by all means this is a great album. Definitely the most relatable rap albums we’ve heard all year touching on something that everyone can relate to. And OME is a great rapper, always has been. I’ll never ever take that away from him.

My personal issue with open mike eagle is that how he raps makes it so that something that is 40 mins lowkey feel like an hour. To the point it’s more likely I have a better time enjoying a OME track when there’s a feature to balance out the contrast (even tho I loved Infinity War Spoilers Mr. Stark I dont feel so good), which imo plays a part to why that color track with billy is such a standout (it is one of the best songs of the year) but I loved Hemlock’s verse on Concrete too.

But this album overall has upped my liking for him as someone that used to just see him as “that lyricist rapper that reddit LOVES”

I think there's a middle ground between centralizing all discussion for an artist in one thread and decentralizing them to the point we need to make threads for every single an artist drops.

For smaller artists that format just doesn't really work and it doesn't really promote more discussion, it more or so just fragments it. Either 2 of the things happens, people get upset that there's so many threads about an artist they don't know and say you're getting paid or spamming. Or comments are split across the many threads to the point interaction is limited. Which is why I started making all those artist threads and keeping them updated in a way that it serves as a launch pad for people to leave their comments and become acquainted with them, even if it was mostly just me posting in them lol. it worked with a few of them in getting people familiar with the newer artist.

Separate threads are definitely cleaner though and sometimes artist threads don't get updated, especially if the OP just dips. Also maintain many artist threads can be a bit tiring.
