I guess that's an issue of following a series like this which is a huge cultural behemoth in its country of origin.

To us having something spoiled in a movie before it appears in the mediums we're following is super wack, whereas it's probably more of an event over in Japan.

Looking back Whole Cake Island may be the best arc nbs

epic scenes on par with Wano, way better emotional scenes, way better character development, imo Luffy went through more trials and tribulations in WCI than Wano, and Katakuri was one of the best fight scenes overall Vs Kaido. He just happens to be a yonko and luffy gets an upgrade, which is crazy in and of it self

I don’t think so. I think they’re just a really poorly written character and that’s a rare thing for Oda so people are more vocal about it. Next chapter will seal the deal on that for some people. If they end up joining the crew then they’ve had functionally no character arc.

Joining the crew usually requires a character to have some sort of character within a broader story arc where they’re at the center of it. The arc is normally what makes them decide to join Luffy. From Yamato’s first appearance that’s what they’ve wanted, that’s totally different from every other crew member besides Brook but that was clearly played as a gag. He’s an exception to this. If Yamato joins it’s just lazy writing. I’d be more interested if they end up joining Law or Kidd or even going out on their own. At least then they’ve decided to find themselves a different way and not continue cosplaying as a dead revolutionary.
