''the warrior of liberation''
luffy has always been fighting for freedom
from arlong park all the way to promising katakuri he will free the children of linlin from big mom's madness
which brought us to where we are now
asspulls are plot developments that make no sense with the rest of the story's narrative......but THIS....is the exact opposite of an asspull, it's storytelling craftsmanship
I was wondering, do you think luffy might get a bigger resonance(not power up) with his awakening under sunlight given the nature of his fruit?
kinda like a sun sulong but instead of a power up he gets more in tune with nika/joyboy's history thus discovering more about the void century?
I have a question about the conditions in which luffy's awakening occured
is it stress, battle and injury that made it possible or the desire to free people?
cause if either are true he could've awakened to save ace
which makes me think that the fire festival was some sort of catalyst in this

Atm it’s a mystery to how you awaken but Doffy did say it’s linked to your understanding of your fruit. As for the conditions I’m just treating it like haki until we an explanation

treating it like haki both makes sense and doesnt at the same time
cause 1) all forms of power attributes should take battle experience into account like rayleigh said so it makes sense
but 2) when did law and kid have that awakening experience of tough battles? law could've easily awakened in dressrosa and kidd when he lost his arm which would save em both at the time but didnt
so i dunno, it's all speculation, plus, mythical zoan have a will on their own so luffy is a special case which makes both my points irrelevant

You know what, f*** the theories mans just pulled an Enel

Now that I think abt it Law during Doffy & Kid maybe during Shanks

the looney tunes type of turn the battle with kaido took on this chapter was amazing too
some may hate on it but....
it ridiculed one of the most threatening looking creatures in one piece, ever....along with making that cp0 dude's death pointless on the govt's side
it gave our guy luffy ALL the power ups we theorized (gear 5, katakuri-ish awakening, sun god nika fruit theory, joyboy is luffy theory) and MORE by giving him literally his imagination as the only limit and as the elders said ''the most ridiculous power ever''
restored everyone's shattered hopes from the SHs to the whole raid squad and even ADDED to their morale by making kaido look veryyy beatable
SIDENOTE: at this point only thing I want is confirmation that zoro got some sort of huge revelation or power up and that enma was the grim reaper given how it was said swords have a will and you have bend em to your own plus the fact that enma is related to death in mythology and it's one of the few black blades we know so little about along with mihawk's blade ....whew...got it out of my system
should've known luffy was a zoan when all his attacks post-timeskip are named after various animals

I'm pretty sure this was just references to all the animals he was training with during the time skip
Everything in your post above this was on point though, people been talking about that Kaido stuff a lot...really cool stuff and makes me wish I could read and speak Japanese because there's definitely a lot Oda does with the language in regards to telling the story that translations don't capture

I think the power awakening happened because of kaido announcing he would've enslaved all of wano, so considering its the fruit of the people who would bring freedom, maybe it was that. You may then ask why it didnt happen in alabasta or dressrosa for example but i think that in those cases luffy wasnt in critical conditions or even dead like he was against kaido so he didnt need to awaken his fruit
This new chapter gotta be one of the wildest asspulls in history.
Human Human Fruit? GTFOH
The hyperbole is crazy

Majority of the post time skip arcs have something that alludes to this very moment with luffy .

it was it's just funnier looking back on it in hindsight

The reason it happened it wano and not on these other arcs I think might have with the synergy of multiple mythical zoans in the same place (yamato, kaido, marco, luffy) and their wills interacting with one another
it also works for storytelling purposes, search up ''momotaro, a japanese tale'' and you'll find many similarities to wano
another reason why wano is the place for this might be as I was thinking the fire festival goin on down below.....it literally is festival where the wishes of the living fly towards the dead and everyones looking to have fun drinking and dancing......and of course the people's champ nika couldnt let a bitter old man like kaido ruin everyone's fun, could he?
What 1044 really showed me that once One Piece reaches its final moments like Zoro vs Mihawk, the One Piece reveal, Luffy meeting shanks etc. it will break the internet
the gorosei still refer to it as the gomu gomu no mi
and its not an ass pull
if anything, everything has fallen into place, from how skypiea was supposed to be one of the final sagas to how every post time skip major arc has a reference to sun worship all the way to god complex villains like enel and doffy
Yeah the official translations pretty much said it's still the Gomu Gomu no Mi. It's like two fruits in one but the real name is the Hito Hito No Mi and like Grandline pointed out this isn't just a random ass pull it's been in the works for decades now even going back to Alabasta.

I think Zoro is currently fighting his inner demon and will wake up stronger.
My nika Luffy really a Nika
I knew he didn't pick that Afro on Foxy island for no reason.
