There is the immediate safety hazard of the blades, but the blades are also extremely fragile. Anything touches those blades (like a hat falling off your head out of a side window,) you’re dead. You need a lot of ground clearance, you need open air around you to maintain proper circulation for lift. You are at the mercy of the wind. If weather is bad, you’re flying blind.

And most crashes will kill you
