feel like this game is gonna go under the radar cause of the halo hype but I'm def gonna try it out

i mean visually it looks cool and more unique than Kena or most 3rd party indie games

but the title of the game and lack of real cinematic story details and lack of world details got me rly wondering

the junction system and finding the GFs and the twist in the story with the Gardens and the overworld and the secrets are all sooo good

The world building with the gardens and towns is fine, but that’s something FF is particularly good at, and it’s done in other games much better. But the orphanage twist is straight up written horribly, convoluted to all hell on some KH ish, to the point where it ruins the plot entirely. FF has its slice dumb plot stuff sure, but VIII in particular is the whole cake with stuff like that.

The main party amounting to nothing (Selphie being the biggest example), the junction system being poorly designed, Then you got the “love story” if you can even call it that. You could get a more believable romance in a teen novel lol.

it’s a good game with typically undercooked JRPG writing lol. the unique junction system, gorgeous visuals, and classic soundtrack are more than enough to enjoy it.

and then you wanna act all pretentious as if the only way someone can like the game that much is if it was their first FF, when actually VIII has had a ton of fans for years.

How am I being pretentious

Undercooked JRPG writing is a thing yes, but one thing JRPGs need to get right is to make you care about the characters, which besides Squall and Rinoa, it doesn’t really do.

Unique doesn’t mean good either, there’s plenty of games that have it’s own thing going on, but aren’t designed well, VIII being a prime example. The game looks better for its time but “gorgeous visuals” is definitely pushing it.

if this was a ps2 era ratchet clank clone I would cop that on day 1

VIII actually was my first FF, i was 10 years old

i played VII right after tho and i loved it too

VIII's world incl. monsters = much more colorful, the card game, finding the GFs and weapon magazines triggers heavy nostalgia trips for me every time

sometime during or after i played Legend of Dragoon which was easily my fav PSone game ever and still one of my fav RPGs

Legend of Dragoon is great that needs to comeback

need a new forza patch man there's a crash or softlock every 5 minutes

I f***ing hate it, I was telling my friend that this s*** is absolutely insane and then it gets stuck multiple times while he’s sitting with me waiting to see how the game plays s*** was embarrassing

at this moment I recommend not doing the following things cause it will crash the game 50% of the time:

• create a tuning
• create a design
• import a community design
• import a community tuning
• enter and leave your house
• enter and leave the festival
• open a gift car at a barn find
• go to a new barn find
• buy a car
• open and close photo mode

As long as you don't do these things you will be fine :)
