Believe me they say this every 4 years for every party

I’m not saying the party will literally disappear, I’m saying that the situation they’ve gotten themselves into solely of their own accord is more destructive to their party vs almost anything else in history especially in light of Trump. This is on level of a FDR new deal tier party realignment. This isn’t the usual situation of like, the initial familiar post-Obama GOP or whatever, this is the Democratic Party having completely and unilaterally failed

Sure if you wanna make that prediction but there's no real data to back that up, you're bringing up new deal realignment but trump only won the pop vote by like 1%.

I mean in terms of extreme changes in policy and focus. Obviously rest is downstream from that but it’s more of what they represent.

People said this in 2016 already but this time it may legitimately be over for democrats politically

We're always one economic downturn away from a party switch, imo. And both parties won't allow the rise of another party...so the switch has to be to the democrats I'd assume.

I mean the fact he even won popular vote is a drastic flip. This was the clearest election win in over a decade. Not a single county flipped and a sweep on swing states.

Trump has gained millions of votes in every election since 2016. His rise in popularity hasn't actually stopped, Dems just managed to use old Biden to kick the can down the road 4 years instead of leading a new direction or building up successors

I’m sure people will continue to vote Dem the same way people continued to vote GOP post-Obama but the party has really nothing left in terms of policy or presentation. The same way under Obama all the GOP offered was cancellation of Obama-era policies (before the tea party rewrote US politics anyway), Dems somehow have even less to offer - with even less figureheads - than 2016 or 2020. I genuinely don’t understand why anyone would vote for Dems other than some argument about harm reduction or hating republicans. They aren’t offering any material economic policies, they aren’t even focusing on healthcare/family support/etc anymore, and they sure as hell don’t have a distinct foreign policy approach. I guess people can vote for them if they just want diversity policies reinstated and Trump’s gender EO repealed? Great.
