It’s all posturing, the state and federal governments are all in agreement that cheap labor is still necessary, Biden has continued adding into the border wall before this and the overall approach to immigration is the same as it was with Trump who was the same as Obama admin and Bush admin. Trump just uses blunt and obvious scapegoating language compared to the typical president.

There may be some beaucratic disagreement between the parties over how immigrants are processed but it’s not a crisis in the way Republicans painted it or else they wouldn’t have tanked the bill the Democrats proposed earlier in the Senate after pressure from Trump

Republicans need something to look good for political donors and it’s a win for moving their base.

It forces Biden’s hands because in reality the Democrats are already continuing much of the same immigration policies as the past 3 presidents but the inflammatory rhetoric the Trump administration used towards immigrants does not appeal to their base. So they have to walk a fine line between having to use rhetoric that isn’t obviously racist and offense but also they cant just say “open borders for everyone” because most Americans don’t want that in general.

Biden either has to reach across the aisle and let down some of his base or just stall and obstruct and fear monger more about brown people. It seems like they are just doing the latter atm
