When you're at the top of the music industry people are gonna have higher expectations for you.

If somebody WAAAY smaller than Drake dropped Honestly Nevermind; sure, maybe I still wouldn't be a fan. But I'd be like "okay... cool. Not a bad effort on their part"

I don't think Honestly Nevermind is shockingly awful or anything. But coming from the biggest hip-hop artist on the planet, that's leading the genre I'm expecting him to drop something significantly more high effort and something game changing; especially since whatever he drops will likely dictate the sound a bunch of other artist will be imitating in the next couple of years.

It may seem unfair; but the term "the bigger you are, the harder you fall" has been a common phrase for centuries for a reason

But what kind of expectation does he have from Drake if the only album he liked is IYRTITL? He does have an anti Drake bias and to an extent an anti R&B bias

I would talk to anyone about music, I’m not an elitist and/or insecure to think differing opinions hold less weight

No we f***ing wouldn’t, lmao. The production deadass f***ing sucks on this drake s*** bro. Bland ass hell. Compare this production to something like “in my room” as an example. No contest.

in my room is the WORST example u couldve used

    still a great song tho

his takes on hip hop are objectively awful and redditcore

He doesn't completely rip apart every Drake album limb to limb. Don't get why ppl are so focused on the scores lol. Even the albums he trashed he gives a few songs that he thought Drake executed well.

Even when I skimmed that video of him debating with that Drake fan about HN. Dude asks Fantano that question and he basically says
"I think the album could have been great with catchier and more memorable hooks", and even says that he thinks Texts Go Green could have been good exactly as is, but with a catchier melody and hook.

My personal opinion is that I just think the album did the bare minimum. To me it just sounds like he gathered together some house, club and electronic beats, and sang over them with the same cadence he would on any beat, and called it a day.

I'm not a club/house connoisseur, but growing up in Bmore; which is sounds like he took a lot of influence from Bmore club music; it I feel like he could have gotten WAY more experimental with blending his own sounds and style with the overall sound

it seems like Drizzy was more eager to beat Beyoncé to the punch than to release a good album
