Can anybody tell me why these companies are selling their consoles like this? Why not use Apple, the king of selling high demand items, as a model? Just continue to sell even when they’re out of stock.. like they’re now doing with the Air Pods Max... seems like they’re making this stupidly complicated for no reason.

This would also completely eliminate scalpers cause people would still get orders in...

You order a launch console or product to get it on the actual launch.

I mean it’s good to have an order in, no doubt.

But in respect to the times we’re living in atm, they should have more than enough stock before they go on sale.

And we’re way past that now. Taking order like Apple does for their iPhones seems to be fool proof and would tremendously reduce scalpers.

Could probably get it early with back orders because of everybody get their order in around the same time and Sony limits how many per than instead of the same people and scalpers taking stock every drop they would have just rolled over to those order placed.

The hype of an apple product compared to a ps5 is A LOT smaller, you also have to factor in how many retailers sony has to maintain a good relationship with and all markets sony has to produce for. Only way this could work out is if sony sold all their consoles directly and it still wouldn't solve the problem of scalpers. Matter in fact street price would be even higher because people TRULY know they're not getting one in a timely matter

iPhones don't actually sell out that quick G. They sell out on the apple store after like a day or two for a couple weeks but every phone carrier gets more than enough, and restocks are plentiful. Sony genuinely doin all they can here and they've been restocking a s*** ton. It's frustrating but it ain't that hard to cop tbh

I used to work at a phone store man the iphone hype is nowhere close to this, and you can still find the airpods max in other stores around the world
