I had an old TV and PS4 with an old speaker system

Now I have a new TV and PS5 with the same speaker system

My old TV didn't have an optical port, so I routed the HDMI from the TV to the PS4 and the optical from the PS4 optical port to the speaker system (to output sound)

My new TV has an optical port and the PS5 lacks an optical port; if I routed an HDMI from PS5 to TV and an optical from the TV to the speaker system, would that work?
