I think it should be a given both companies will make two separate consoles on launch. One lower end for most to buy, and one higher end that has all the bells & whistles.

Why would that be a givin? Up untill about two days ago the narrative was sony is making one console at launch? In fact it was looked at as an extreme negative that microsft was offering 2 consoles by even a majority of the people in this thread?

I'm still not big on it. It depends on how big the power gap would be because games would have to be developed for the weaker hardware.
