In anyway requiring online only to play a disc game is a big deal . Will be just as dumb as Xbox one or Microsoft doing the same

You just need to connect once while initially installing it, after that can use it like any other disc drive

Fun fact: all xbox one, ps4, ps5, and series x disk drives already require an online connection to activate its blu ray capabilities due to licensing.

its a 1 time connection to activate the disk drive. but people on twitter are gonna be like NOOOO HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE IT IN 30 YEARS WHEN THE SERVERS ARE OFFLINE!!!! as if thats a real scenario

Guess I’ll be copping the slim (w/ disc drive) since I wasn’t able to secure the current model, in terms of waiting for a special sale
I actually do think the smaller hardware size will make a considerable difference for my TV setup, so it all works out in the end.

Any idea if the disk drive can be attached to og digital only consoles? I have the og digi and will cop if so. But looks like it could just be for the slim?

No you can't do it with the old PS5 Digital Edition so it's only for the new models coming November 10th 2023.

Regret getting the digital a little bit lmao, but my girl at the time copped it for me and they only had digi in stock so I said fukit. Not being able to buy used games or get a disc from a homie is an L

Yeah I was kind of thinking doing that but I thought about Blu-Ray movies and maybe if a friend only has a disc version of a game and wants to play it or let me play it on my PS5 so would it be a good idea to get the PS5 Disc Edition even if it costs more as it's worth it and I've always bought a PlayStation console that can play discs even though I stopped buying disc versions of games since 2013. So yes the PS5 Pro, PS6 etc. that I'll get will be the disc edition of it for sure
