Keep the Digital Edition priced at $399 but sell the disc drive at $99 as to not undercut the $499 model?
They’re clearly intent on keeping the $499 price point as long as they can due to inflation, so reducing the price of the disc model to $479 seems out of the question.

Make the slim version compatible with PS1, PS2, PS3, & PS4 games

If Sony did this with all physical copy games of PS1-PS4, I would pay insane amounts of money for a PS5

If that were the case then you better be prepared to spend at least $499 for the Digital Edition

I thought of something, if you’re a new buyer then just get the $450 digital version, then get the external disc drive on sale at a later date, or buy it on Craigslist or fb marketplace or some equivalent. If you could get it really cheap than you’d get a disc ps5 for less than $500

No vertical stand is still a downside but if you were planning on using it horizontally anyways I guess it doesn’t matter
