ps5 can’t play AAA games at 4k and 60fps.. it’s not an optimization issue. It’s the hardware. Even on a pc, to do 4k and 60fps you need an insane gpu

Right now you have to currently choose between a resolution mode that’s 4k or a performance mode that’s 60fps, and that sucks. PS5 pro is much needed.

If PC requires an insane GPU tho I wouldn't expect the Pro to have that hardware

I don't think it'll make 60 and 4k a viable standard for AAA titles this generation, we'd still probably have to pick between quality or performance I'd guess

This console isn’t here today, it’s a future thing… how are you making a judgment on how powerful it will be when it’s using future tech

Wym? You said PCs had the technology to do 60 and 4k

I'm just looking at what technology we have at present. If it's true that Pro dev kits are already out there then they have to be using technology and parts that are already in the world

Unless they've created something custom and it's not on the market

The dev kit is like a PC that roughly matches the power of what the pro will be, when the ps5 pro actually comes out in 2024 or 2025 it’ll have the most up to date components possible

Yeah they always do custom s***, ps5 has a custom made GPU and SSD, so ps5 pro will too most likely

By late 2024 and 2025 PC gpus will be much more powerful than current ones, and so will the one in the ps5 pro. Tech like this makes huge leaps every year.

Also playstation games are optimized for PlayStation and since they use custom hardware you can’t really compare it to PCs. Also on PC you can get better frame rate by turning off certain graphics options, so it’s not a good comparison to say “oh well if PCs need an insane gpu to get 4k60 then ps5 pro won’t be able to do that”

Aren't the most up to date components you could get with a PC the most expensive though? I'm sure it won't be top of the line in power just because of how expensive that'd be, but even up to date parts ain't cheap

Like people had PCs that were still more powerful than the PS5 and Series X when they came out

The most expensive PC parts go way beyond what I’m talking about. I’m just saying 4k60. Top of the line clears that easily.

    2022 gpus like 4090 are doing 4k 120-240fps

2024-2025 gpus will be way more advanced too

Right, but baseline GPU for 4k 60 is what a 3080? That's 500-700 alone it seems, 3070 is the price of a console looking at best buy. Maybe you could get it with a 2080ti with the right settings and what not?

On top of other parts they'd be taking a hitting for idk it's hard to imagine they'd expunge that kind of funding for the pro this generation. Bloomberg says it cost them $450 to make a PS5 polygon.com/2020/2/14/21137615/ps5-cost-price-point-playstation-5

And I'm sure they get parts at much better prices than us as regular consumers, but still feels like we're probably a couple more years off from having that experience on consoles just yet or maybe I'm being pessimistic

That’s 500 today, but it gets cheaper over time

It used to be more when the 4060,4070,etc weren’t out yet

Tech drops in price as new tech comes out

New technologies aren’t just about gpu power, like DLSS, you can make improvements in lots of ways

That Bloomberg article is from the February before ps5 launched so idk if that’s relevant now

3090 and 4090 are only 2 years apart and people are getting 50-100 more fps than before

PS5 to ps5 pro (4+ years apart) just getting some more frames is not far-fetched at all

Devs need to patch all their old PS4 games for the “PS5 Pro”, tired of playing a game from just 2017 at 900p 30fps on a PS5

Xbox won with that FPS Boost feature

if some how Sony f***s up launch of PS5 Pro or makes people regret buying a PS5 then we could have a close race. FPS boost feature a banger though
