Bro really played all the instruments on Lady Cab Driver, that's insane to me. The s*** sounds like a Sly & the Family Stone track at times and he made it all himself. Incredible bass line in particular.

so the new update is somewhat interesting at funkatopia podcast. (i’ll sum it so you don’t have to listen to it)

it looks like the legal tape (think zappa estate ) is winding down and that’s why they are pumping the merch

But i do think what’s coming next is going to blow some minds. But no one can reveal anything - just know it’s probably soon because of the upcoming netflix documentary. i can only imagine the footage in that that Prince estate approved of.

og time guitarist Jesse johnson would talk to prince a bit in early 80’s and one night Prince wants to compete with Jesse with feats of music mastery (Because Jesse was one of his kindred music spirits)and he’s like

“the demos i always record with drum machine! you gotta check this out “

then he proves to jesse and pulls the tapes out and Prince has him freaking out. Because these demos are double timed. Prince wanted the energy to jumpstart him in the studio and he would increase the tempo on the machine

you see, Prince wanted the pattern as quick as possible in his head. ALL of For U and Prince s/t is programmed first?!?!?j Which changes your whole thought process. That’s why he was able to do the drums so fast because he already worked it out & then he could spend all the time in the studio on the synth layers and guitar lines or whatever

estate should pay jesse johnson for the 20 discs of prince demos he has and remaster them and release them as limited edition😒

these discs are historic and jesse has them all the work tapes of For you and Prince lps. How could you be that stupid and not pay him? 🤦🏽‍♀️

And yes, new prince fans, that’s 20 discs that none of us have heard. It’s absolutely criminal how easy this is to start.

You pay andre cymone, jesse, morris for all the tapes they have and then you hire them as consultants. Each of them have their own project. The legal wrangling will be sorted out as they are preparing everything & in one year everything would be cleared for release 😳

i have to say jesse johnson’s story is pretty incredible.

this man just wandered to mpls to a ymca shelter and someone said “damn you are handsome do some modeling” and then less than a year he’s in front of Prince killing everybody in sight at the audition
